Early Purple Vienna Kohlrabi seeds
Despite looking like an alien vegetable, kohlrabi is absolutely delicious. The early purple variety is assumed to be from Austria. It is an heirloom dating back to at least 1860. This variety is very similar to the early white Vienna kohlrabi with h a couple of exceptions.
This variety is a deep rich purple color. The flavor profile is slightly different Where the early white variety is on the sweeter side, Early Purple Vienna kohlrabi has a more mild sweet cabbage-turnip flavor that has a little spice, similar to a radish. This variety also grows a little bigger.
The maturity date for these is 55-60 days. The plants will reach 12"-18". Bulbs can reach upwards of 5"-6". These will require full sun. Kohlrabi does best in cooler weather. Plant these in early Spring and early Autumn.
