Red Beard Bunching Onion seeds
This is a versatile and easy-to-grow variety. Red Beard bunching onion is a hybrid that will produce numerous small cylindrical bulbs of sweet and mild onions perfect in soups, stews, salads, kabobs, and almost everything. This is a dependable variety that will sprout in the late winter-early spring. These can be grown close together since they are a bunching variety. This makes them great for containers, window boxes, or even planting in narrow garden planters that may have a long narrow rectangle shape. These are also ideal for slipping into small spaces between veggies if you are square foot gardening. The roots run shallow to they won't compete with deeper root vegetables (carrots, tomatoes, chilies, etc).
Growing these near your brassicas is also a wise idea! These will repel cabbage loopers, cabbage worms, and maggots, while adding potassium to your soil, encouraging blooms to those plants that surround your onions!
