Sensitive Plant seeds
The Sensitive plant is so much fun to grow! When touched or blown on, the leaves curl up and close and the stem of the leaf will descend. The leaves will reset and open back up. This plant is intriguing to both kids and adults alike.
Due to its animated nature and ability to close its leaves, it has also been called the sleepy plant, touch-me-not, shame plant, humble plant, zombie plant, and shy plant. This plant is a perennial for up to 2 years in a warmer zone or an annual in cooler zones. The plant will also produce flowers that look like little purple pom poms, similar to artichoke flowers.
Mimosa pudica belongs to the pea/legume family and tends to creep and bush out a bit. It can be grown in either full sun or partial shade but will thrive more in a sunny area. These seeds will need warm soil to germinate. The soil should be at least 70º (F) to sprout. A heat or germination mat is encouraged if these are not being sown outdoors during the warmer seasons. The Sensitive Plant can reach up to 2 1/2 feet tall and 1 1/2 feet wide in colder growing zones, or up to 5 feet tall by 2 1/2 - 3 feet wide in tropical-type climates.
