American Flag Leek

SKU: V445967

American Flag Leeks are a popular and widely used leek variety in home gardens and markets. This variety is popular due to its generous 1-inch wide stalks that can grow up to 10 inches tall. American Flag leeks offer more edible flesh per stalk than other varieties. In addition to their ample size, their flavor merits praise due to their slightly pungent, earthy, and light onion flavor. This makes it a prime candidate for soups and stews.

If grown through the colder seasons, the cooler weather will sweeten the leeks. These take up very little space, which makes them a great fit if you are doing square-foot gardening or container gardening. Fit these in the corners of raised beds, between lettuce heads, etc. These seeds will germinate best in soil temperatures of 65º-70º.
