The Kikuza pumpkin is one of the best pumpkins for making pumpkin butter! Kikuza's origins are rooted in Japan a long time ago, but it has since found its way to America. These little guys are very sweet and perfect for pumpkin butter, or for baking as the sugars caramelize well. It's almost a dessert in itself.
When ripe, these weigh only 3-4 lbs. each so they are perfect for scaling a trellis! They will mature into a subtle tan color and the taste has been described as superior to the traditional pumpkin with a dry texture and a spiciness to the flavor of the flesh. Due to their thick skin, these can keep for almost 6 months.
