Bloody Butcher's Dent Corn seeds
The name "Bloody Butcher's Dent" comes from how this heirloom variety grows. When young, the kernels are extremely pale, almost white. As the corn grows and matures, the kernels begin to turn red, dark red, and burgundy. The name is derived from a white butchers apron after a hard days work.
This corn has a few uses. When picked young, it is edible and semi-sweet. Once the cobs have matured and dried, they excel as ornamental decorations. If you chose to, you could also pop the dried kernels for your heirloom popcorn or you could grind them into cornmeal. This variety also grows very tall, approx. 10-12".
